Epic parade and student-inspired music festival painted Braamfontein blue and gold as µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø enters its second century.
On Friday, 6 October 2023, thousands of µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø students and staff celebrated the University’s 101st birthday with a colourful parade that snaked through the vibrant streets of Braamfontein.
Dressed in µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø signature blue and gold colours, the µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø Parade also included µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø residences and societies, Departments, Faculties and Schools, Kudos Kudu mascot, stilt walkers, the µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø Brass Band, float and the µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø cheerleaders.
The parade was followed by a picnic and an energetic µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø Music Festival which was held at the Diggs field. The line-up included talented µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø students and included some of South Africa’s biggest stars in entertainment such as Mafikizolo, Mi Casa, and Amapiano DJ’s Dlala Thukzin and DBN Gogo.
