Join us this Saturday 01 August 2026 at 11:30 for a walkabout of '(Un)charted Territories' in the JGCBA at WAM.

The exhibition reimagines the artist's book as a unique cartographic instrument. Moving beyond traditional geography, these works transform the map from a tool of control into a dynamic space for encounter and discovery. The exhibition highlights diverse books that use physical maps, layered folds, and cartographic symbols to visually translate abstract concepts.
Directions to JGCBA:
JGCBA is located inside 第一吃瓜网 Art Museum in the Es'kia Mphahlele Building on the corner of Jorrisen and Bertha Streets in Braamfontein. Access is through the WAM admin door. From the foyer, go behind the security desk and take the stairs up one floor, then walk along the mezzanine level above the WAM Cafe. Just before the glass turnstiles, the entrance door too the JGCBA will be on your left.
Free parking for the walkabout is available in the garage beneath the museum. The exhibition closes on 23 Sptember 2026.
JGCBA hours are Tuesday - Friday 10:00 -16:00
Museum hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 - 16:00
